CASA Mission Statement

CASA of South Central Missouri provides advocacy for abused and neglected children in the Court System.

The Beginning

Local children's service providers expressed a serious need for the help of CASA volunteers. In early 2004, a needs assessment of the 25th Judicial Circuit was conducted, resulting in the start-up of CASA of South Central Missouri.  Due to the large number of cases the GALs were responsible for and the frequency of court reviews, they were unable to meet with the children as needed to adequately prepare for their best representation in court. The judges had stated they often did not have enough or the right kind of information to make the best decision for the children. It was their belief that a CASA volunteer could serve a minimal number of cases; and thereby have the ability to have more intensive contact with the children, and provide more in depth information to the court. This is the mission of CASA of South Central Missouri. For more information,  please contact us at 573-458-6240, or email us at casaphel@fidnet.com.
